Micro Brewery
Suggested Beers to try at Tool Shed Brewing Company.
IPA - Imperial / Double
Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day 2018 welcomed women from the local beer industry to brew with us for the fourth year in a row! This year's brew is a Double IPA with a big nose and huge taste. We've hopped at every step with Cascade, Palisade, Chinook , Mosaic, Simcoe and Citra for a beer that is worthy of its name. We hope you enjoy drinking it as much as we have enjoyed brewing and canning it for you! A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this beer are used to establish the Pink Boots Bursary. This bursary helps women enrolled in the Olds College Brewmaster & Brewery Operations Management Course.
Cream Ale
Our session-able cream ale is light, refreshing and tries to get along with everybody. This smooth, lightly hopped ale offers beautiful mouthfeel and a golden, crystal clear appearance. It’s a real, refreshing crowd pleaser.
IPA - American
This India Pale Ale is hoppy, bold and citrusy, yet clean and crisp. Higher in alcohol yet still remarkably balanced. These hops don’t smack you in the face, they tempt you to experience their complex profile.
Red Ale - American Amber / Red
This beer is dark red, roasty like coffee, toasty like fresh bread and makes your mouth water for more. We put just enough hops in to remind you what they’re capable of. This ale is medium boded and easy to drink.
Stout - American
Every once in a while a LEGEND comes around and revolutionizes an industry! For craft beer canning that legend is Jamie Gordon! A home-brew shop owner who, back in 1999, handbuilt a small manual canner for home brewers. The rest, as they say, is history! Jamie spent 16 years tirelessly devoted to traveling the globe to install, educate, and help every single craft brewery possible benefit from canning their craft beer! Tool Shed is one of those breweries and is honoured to have called Jamie our friend! We love that Jamie taught his boys, “Stop stealing my beer and learn how to brew it!!” so this stout is for Jamie! In order to mirror that classy, GQ, flat cap wearin’ style of Jamie, this stout is deeply roasty and rich with a surprising presence of hops and a beautiful, smooth, dry finish. If ever a stout were to rock a flat cap like Jamie did, this would be that beer!
IPA - Belgian
"It's how we drink it in Belgium" -Dr. Evil This combination of tropical mosaic and simcoe hops tickles your tastebuds then gives way to a subtle Belgian trappist yeast finish.
Fruit Beer
This refreshing blonde ale perfectly ecapsulates the exotic flavours of passion fruit while not being overly sweet. A crushable patio beer that is sure to please.
Pale Ale - American
If you could thank anyone for the amazing recent explosion of craft breweries opening in our province, who would it be? We'd like to thank Neil Bamford who, along with his amazing partner Tom Corbett, run The Vineyard home-brew shop. Where else does a craft brewing revolution start but at the local home-brew shop? Neil seems to be fuelled by a mission of turning home-brewers into pro-brewers. This one is for Neil. The beer is a sessionable Oatmeal Pale ale utilizing Cascade as a single hop variety which imparts sweet floral citrus aromas of grapefruit and limes balanced with slight spicy pine notes on the palate. At 4.5% with a balanced crisp bitterness, this beer is a PERFECT companion for summer patio session, but then again so is Neil.
Farmhouse Ale - Saison
At Tool Shed we often talk about helping make “A Better Alberta Through Craft Beer!” but what if we could create “A Better Craft Beer Using ONLY ALBERTA!"? Meet our latest creation, #PrairiePride. This beer boasts Alberta barley from Antler Valley Farms as well as Alberta Wheat. It is malted in Alberta at Rahr Malting and Red Shed Malting, hopped with Alberta grown cascade Northern Girl hops, brewed in Alberta with Alberta water and incorporates our very own Alberta wild yeast captured on Keller Farms and cultivated in the Olds College Brewmaster Lab. It is even packaged with our Cask Canning machine which is also proudly made in Alberta! This is our #PrairiePride.
The beer is light and dry! It delivers spicy, wild, saison style notes thanks to the locally captured yeast. The visible wheat haze promises fantastic body and a smooth mouth feel. To learn more about this epic creation please visit www.toolshed.beer. Cheers!
Red Ale - American Amber / Red
Named in honour of a boozy feral pig who started a fight with a cow (true story... http://bit.ly/cowkilla) Our custom made ale for Pig & Duke is an easy drinker with some real character.
Sour - Fruited
The first in our series of our taproom exclusive Kettle Sours! Brewed with 230 kilos of puréed cranberries, this beer is light, tart, and pairs well with festive celebrations. If you received this beer in your Advent Calendar, a very Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
IPA - Session
It’s your time to enjoy backyard bbq, music festivals, great outdoor shows and days that start with K. We all know summer won’t be here long enough, so get out there and enjoy your patio season! We’re as much about stories as we are about beer and since we have already done lots of talking about our patio, this summer it's your turn to tell us your stories! Tell us how you’re enjoying the summer with friends and family using the hashtag #ToThePatio We wanted to make a beer that is refreshing and lighter in alcohol; a beer that pairs well withhot summer days and nights. This session ale is hopped with Idaho 7 hops for a fruity, not bitter, character.
Pilsner - Other
Unfiltered pilsner
Porter - Other
Cherrywood smoked porter
Fruit Beer
This beer is a result of our ongoing beer experiments. The beer is beautiful fruity blonde ale, perfectly married with a slight tartness and freshness from the addition of over 750lb of cranberries. A beautiful red hue will be enough to make you want a pint!
Farmhouse Ale - Saison
Our head brewer, Lisa wanted to make a saison reminiscent of the subtle characteristics of white wine grapes. We used Huell Melon and Hallertau Blanc hops, which impart the fruity notes Lisa was looking for. We've also used Rocky Mountain malt from Red Shed Malting to impart a unique malt flavour. Enjoy!
Pilsner - Czech / Bohemian
Pale Ale - New England / Hazy
On the 50th anniversary of this iconic event, we’ve gathered for the first ever LGBTQ+ industry collaboration in Alberta to release a juicy, sessionable, hazy pale ale. We are celebrating the bravery of Marsha P. Johnson and remembering that Pride started as and continues to be a protest. Boasting a smooth pillowy body, very low bitterness, and a powerful citrus flavour profile from Citra and Mandarina Bavaria hops, you’ll be doing a double take to make sure you didn’t pick out a can of orange juice to accompany you in your Pride celebrations this summer!
Non-Alcoholic Beer - Other
Non-alcoholic patio style beer
Porter - American
We set out to make a porter like no other. A porter that wasn't too sweet but rather somewhat spicy. What better way to add spice than to add a healthy dose of rye malt! You will find this beer to be a great companion to the cooler fall nights in Alberta.
Belgian Strong Dark Ale
A strong ale brewed with Belgian candy sugar and a traditional Trappist ale yeast imparting characteristics of stone fruit and plum.
